Island Getaway

Love this house and this stretch of beach! Great kitchen and dining area for families. Well furnished and beautifully decorated 💜 The outdoor areas offered so many opportunities for family fun. The pool and hot tub were of course our favorites. Not far from town center but far enough to “get away” from the action. The owners are so gracious and attentive to your every need. Well maintained and perfect family vacation spot!!

The most attentive owners with the loveliest home. This beachfront home had everything you could think of and more. The owners have thought of everything. I’m amazed that they allow pets but I’m thankful that they do. The upper deck and lower pool area are completely gated (with the most beautiful gates/decking) so you can relax and not worry about your pup running down the beach without you. The kitchen is completely stocked—Pyrex, mixing bowls, cookie sheets, measuring cups. We cooked every meal but one. We stayed over Thanksgiving so I brought my rolling pin but once we arrived I saw that even that was provided. Plenty of glass and plastic dishware. We no longer have young children but I noticed the owners even thoughtfully provided forks and spoons for toddlers. The outdoor area was just the best. The heated pool was amazing as was the hot tub. Seeing the stars from the deck was truly a highlight with so little light pollution. Beds were extremely comfortable and the home is decorated beautifully. We will definitely be back. We have vacationed on SGI since 2008 and have always stayed beachfront. I was able to spend a week at Island Getaway and I didn’t want to leave. This is not your typical vacation home. The pool and outside areas are amazing! The owners thought of everything! I am in my 80’s and love bringing my family and grandkids to SGI! I try to find a special place and this was the best! This home is designed for extended family with plenty of space to spread out. Everyone loved the wide beach and multiple places to sit and enjoy it. I enjoyed sitting on the deck and watching the family on the beach. All ages loved the pool, outside games, and arcade games. The outside area has so many options to relax, sit and talk, read a book, and play games. The beach views are incredible and the stars at night from the hot tub are unforgettable. It was such a special place to bring my family to make those special memories. The outside is so amazing, but the inside looks like a southern coastal magazine with all the details. It really is the best home!

Where to begin!? Where to begin!? This vacation rental home is the best one yet! It was exactly as described in the listing. The kitchen was better equipped than my home and the beds were the most comfortable we have ever slept in! The owner has provided everything we could possibly require. We felt so welcomed! The heated pool and hot tub is top notch and excellent! Right on the beach! The indoor and outdoor amenities were fun the both kids, teens, and adults. There was so much to do, even when it rained! The interior and exterior of the home was beautifully designed better than anything I have seen any Ocean Home or Coastal Living Magazine! I’d definitely recommend this home! My family and I will rent this home for many years to come!

Our family enjoyed this home so much! It has the best porch for relaxation with a view. Island Getaway had plenty of activities and amenities to overcome the rainy days. The home was very clean upon our arrival and had everything in the kitchen we needed to prepare and enjoy at-home meals. The owners are proactive in anticipating the needs of their guests and the property manager was promptly responsive to our questions. Perfect home for a fun family vacation! This property is amazing! It has been completely redone from top to bottom and inside out. It’s location is perfect. There is a public beach path on both side of the home, but the r owners have done everything possible to keep it private. The pool area is top notch. We spent most of our time on the back deck directly looking at the ocean. We were in the hot tub every night looking at the stars. The hot tub had not been cleaned prior to our arrival and was quite dirty - the owner and management company were on it immediately! Everything was provided and it was all thoughtfully planned out. There was even the nicest thank you gift upon arrival. The ONLY drawback for us were the beds were not that comfortable, BUT with that being said I have a bad back anyway. The boardwalk to the beach is fantastic!! I rented chairs and um fellas for the beach but didn’t need to, the house has them! So many games too that we we didn’t know about - they should add all of that to the listing! Huge plus! The grill was great! The outside sink by the pool was a great idea! The only things my husband and I mentioned we would do if it was our was finish the under decking so the entire area down there doesn’t get wet and adding a fire pit (even a gas one). You will not be disappointed!!!

If you are looking for the perfect beach house, Island Getaway is it! This house has been completely remodeled, and looks brand new inside, outside, new furniture, etc. The outside living area is the best I've ever seen! The new deck off the main level spans the whole width of the house. The railing and gates keep children and pets safe. The ground level area is also completely fenced. It has a swimming pool, hot tub, ping pong, foosball, cornhole boards, and arcade games, and several different seating areas. Your kids will love it! We have stayed at dozens of rental houses over the years, but Island Getaway has been the best.

Island Getaway has it ALL!! The owners of this property have made sure that you have absolutely everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay at the beach. The kitchen is over and beyond stocked with beautiful dinnerware, pots and pans that you can actually cook with! If there is anything you might need to cook with – they already have it there! All of the bedrooms and each bathroom are tastefully decorated and have very comfortable beds. The downstairs game room and bunk room was a huge hit for the little and the big kids! The outdoor area(s) are simply AMAZING!! From playing ping pong and foosball to lounging in the hammock or pool – there was something for everyone! Sitting on the top deck to watch the sunrise in the morning with a cup of coffee made the beginning of each day spectacular. (We had some glorious sunrises and sunsets!) The hot tub is perfectly situated where you can star gaze at night! It was incredible! By far our favorite house we have stayed at on the island – we will be back! (hopefully sooner than later)

House was gorgeous. Plenty of room for kids and grownups. We kept the younger kids upstairs, older kids downstairs. Alarms were on the doors to keep the little kids safe. Lots of games and entertainment options for all. We used the pool more than we expected, especially on incredibly hot days. Kitchen had everything we needed and then some. Beach was beautiful. We saw pods of dolphins, both from the upstairs porch and the beach. At night, the kids went crab hunting on the beach. Lots of happy memories all around.

My family enjoyed Island Getaway in beautiful St. George Island! The beautiful beach home has everything from a perfect kitchen and living space, comfortable outdoor seating, to the heated pool and hot tub! We enjoyed the home and amenities as much as the beach. The owners thought of everything a beach home needs. It really was perfect for my large family of 11. Our adult children played the video games, ping pong and had some serious foosball competitions. We star gazed from the hot tub and even saw shooting stars. Watching the sunrise from the deck was amazing. Many memories were made and we hope to rent this amazing home again in the near future. Lastly, the homeowner was very helpful and accessible whenever we had any questions. Thank you for sharing your home!

My name is Dominique Williams and I wanted to tell you what a fabulous time my family and I had at Island Getaway!!! I don’t even know where to begin. The name says it all!!! You truly feel like you are on an island Getaway that was made especially for you! From the moment we pulled in the driveway, we were in awww… it felt like a dream (someone pinch me)!! The house was absolutely breathtaking…from walking in the door and seeing this big beautiful open space and heart stopping views from every window, to the games/game room, fully stocked kitchen and the beautiful attention to detail with the hand painted wall murals. The uniqueness of this home stood out with the separate living quarters downstairs that allowed for a family with tiki hut bunk beds and queen bed to another king size bed with bath and extra sink. The outdoor seating and spacious seating areas by the hot tub and pool are my favorite….from lounging on the chairs in the pool to day dreaming/napping in the hammock to reading a quiet book in the swinging chair …. This home truly had it all and more!!! The layout and well thought out design for the outdoor space was incredible, best on the island that we have seen thus far. We loved the privacy, peace and quiet of Island Getaway!! The shower on the dock leading to the beach made it so easy to leave the sand behind before heading in for a nap after a gorgeous day on the beach! The lighted steps are nice added touch for those of us that need a little extra help seeing in the dark.. Lol. I can’t praise the owners, The McIntyre’s, enough about their incredible home. They are wonderful to talk to and so accommodating with anything we needed. They truly made our vacation more memorable! This is the most unique and amazing beach home we have stayed in on SGI! It has a wide beach and private boardwalk that has easy access with it being so flat. Taking all the beach stuff and setting it up was a breeze! This is a big deal with little ones! After a great day on the beach, it was easy to shower off with the outdoor shower right on the boardwalk! Another favorite part of the week was the extra large deck area with hot tub! Absolutely loved sitting out there at night and the hot tub was amazing with the sunset and stars! Everyone loved the pool area! It was like having your own private resort! Ping pong, foosball, corn hole, and human size 4 corners was so much fun while hanging around the pool! The moms loved the pool loungers being in the water while the kids swam and played! Inside was just as amazing. It was like living on the set of a coastal HGTV show! Every detail was done with a beach theme and high end! The furniture is top of the line and the kitchen lacked nothing! At night, the kids had plenty to keep them busy with the arcade game room. There were thousands of games from years ago to the newest games today! Competition began and each night continued through the week. There are also plenty of puzzles and board games to keep you busy on a rainy day or enjoy sitting on the deck during an evening after dinner and playing a game. We made so many memories and had so much fun! The only bad part was leaving. No one wanted the week to end. It was our best vacation ever!

What a great place this was to spend our vacation! I don't even know where to begin-this truly was one of the best houses we've ever stayed at in after 14 years visiting the Island. We were the first guests after the completion of the remodel, so of course it was clean and fresh and everything was new (which of course brings it's own layer of worry-we didn't want to be the first people to dirty anything!). I'll start with the inside: The design/decor itself is like something out of a beautiful coastal magazine: the perfect blend of comfort and beauty. We loved all the decor, furniture, and art work. I'm pretty sure they are still adding details, so would love to see it again! They have been so clever and creative to maximize every inch of space-for example, adding little niches, cabinets or pieces of furniture for storage, etc. We also really loved the slide-close blinds on many doors/windows. Each room in the main part of the house has its own bathroom, and they are finished so beautifully with very unique tile work in the showers. We really loved taking in those details. The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen at any house we have ever rented-we cook almost all our meals while on vacation, and we never wanted for a single tool or gadget, and the knives were sharp! Also, having little kids, we really appreciate things like plastic cups. Those little things add up to helping you feel right at home on vacation. The downstairs- which is accessed by using one of the outside staircases-was a huge draw, especially for the kids. They couldn't agree on who would stay down there! It is so well laid out, and the game room was a huge hit. Easily, one family with 3-4 kids could have plenty of room in this area. The decor downstairs is so unique and well thought out-with the tiki hut bunk, and the Chevy truck bed and vintage look refrigerator. Just so cute!!! There is 1 bathroom for 2 bedrooms to share, and this is the bathroom we encourage everyone to use while swimming in the pool, as one of the doors is right near the pool area. In our opinion, the absolute highlight and best thing about this house in the outdoor space: It feels like there is as much usable space outside as in, and we wanted to spend every moment we could out there. Upstairs deck: we loved the very comfortable furniture and lounged out there morning and evening with our amazing view of the beach over the dunes. Watched every sunrise and sunset out there. And of course the best part of the deck is the hot tub that feels like it is sitting right on the dunes. This was our first house with a hot tub, and we may insist on it from now on! Every night was spent there, unwinding from the day listening to the waves and watching the shooting stars, with an unobstructed view of the sky (no covered porch roof directly above the hot tub!). Down the stairs from the deck, you can walk over the house's boardwalk to the beach (built-in shower right there for rinsing off when you return, and 2 thoughtfully placed chairs at the end of the boardwalk for watching sunrise or sunset), or you can enter the gated pool area. And WOW!! What a great space! The pool itself is very nice, and has a huge sun shelf, which is helpful with little ones. And so many furniture options out there! Loungers, comfortable sofas, rocking chairs, hammock (several naps taken there!), several tables and seating (we had lunch out by the pool every day), and plenty of furniture for everyone to find a comfortable place to relax. It feels very private outside, very much due to the added walls/decor around the patio, but very creative and thoughtful. There is also a fish cleaning sink and table. The kids couldn't decide what to do when outside: ping pong? Foosball? Pool? One of the (many) other games that had been stocked in the outside cabinet? My kids kept opening drawers in awe at all of the things that had been stocked for them to play with! Another thing we appreciated was how safe it felt: every gate/access point to the pool area had a safety latch that was well out of reach for any child too little to go out there alone. The beach in front of the house is wide with beautiful sea oat covered dunes, and we loved the great view we had of our boys playing beach soccer while we made dinner. Also, really appreciated the use of "turtle friendly" lights in the outside fixtures. The location is great-a very easy bike ride to island center for ice cream, donuts or fresh seafood. But we never felt like it was busy or noisy. I'm sure there are many more details to point out, but we kept saying the entire time-this is the best place we have ever stayed!! And while we of course hated to leave, that isn't a bad way to end a wonderful vacation!

Love this vacation home! It is the perfect location! The home is like brand new and top notch! The new furniture is top of the line and the best mattresses! It has everything you need for the best vacation! The outdoor area is like a resort with an amazing pool area, outdoor games, and tons of comfy furniture! It is so private, you feel like your own oasis. We have stayed in the home twice and can’t wait to come back.

Island Getaway, is by far the Greatest house on sgi! The house is beautifully decorated with each room ,having its own beachy theme! The kitchen is well equipped, offering all comforts of home! The downstairs has an impressive game room! Great for the kiddos! The outside area it wonderful ! From the heated pool to the hot tub! As well as many places to sit and relax ,enjoying, out of this world veiws, from sunrise to sunset! There are many outside games and the beach is right there to sink your toes in the sand! We celebrated our granddaughter's 18 birthday at ISLAND GETAWAY! It was a great success! She and her friends had a blast! Thank you Island getaway for such a wonderful, memorable birthday!

Loved being at the beach in a lovely place to stay. Just very sad our vacation was cut short by 4 1/2 days! We barely got started & had to mandatory evacuate!?Praying for longer stay next year.

We really loved the amenities of this home. The outdoor space was amazing! Lot's of things for kids to do (arcade, games, pool/sand toys, ping pong, foosball, and connect 4). Kitchen was well stocked with pans/crockpot/bowls/etc. House was great, only downside was the upstairs and downstairs only connect by going outside.
