Hula Matula

First time visiting; hopefully not the last. Loved everything about this property. We had to evacuate for 1 day in the middle of the trip bc of Idalia, but we were able to return promptly. I would definitely recommend this house and the property management company.

Beautiful home with so much privacy for each couple. Not your ordinary rental where you can hear each other talking in the next room. Would recommend to anyone traveling to Indian Pass as a couples vacation or family vacation.

We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful beach home. Perfect layout if combining families to have some privacy. Nice big and open layout. Beautiful decor and great seating for family dinners and hangouts. If you like a fan when you sleep you may want to pack a portable fan to run, but overall wonderful stay and great experience.

We had an amazing stay at Hula Matula. We have rented many vacation homes in many areas, over the years. This was probably the nicest home we have ever rented. The quality and cleanliness were impeccable. We have never stayed in this area and found this part of Indian Pass to be a great location. The beach was right there off the porch steps, and nice and quiet with plenty of room. It is located and easy 15-20 min drive from both Port St Joe and Appalachicola. We enjoyed great food and entertainment, along with shopping in both locations (Appalach was my favorite for shopping!) Before we arrived, I wasn't sure exactly how the house was set up, but the privacy afforded with the "split house" under 1 roof, was wonderful. We traveled with 4 teenagers, aged 15 to 19. They liked having their own zones in the house. The house was very nicely appointed. We really enjoyed the deck furniture to sit out on as well. It was nice having a community pool, just a few houses down. It was not heated, so cold in late March, but our kids from the north still braved the waters a few times. Fishing in this area is wonderful. We surf fished every day, took out a charter where we limited out on sheepshead, and the boys also found bridges in the area to fish under/off of. We had a wonderful stay at Hula Matula and would definitely return.

This place is absolutely beautiful! Love the layout and the home has all the right amenities. The location listed as beachfront isn't stated enough, you open the front door and out in front of you is the beautiful ocean and beach. You can't get any closer to the beach and water than this home. We would definitely stay here again. Perfect home A+A+

There were little things that were bothersome, but I'm rating the stay 5 stars. WiFi was a problem as was cable etc...but do you really want to watch TV with the view this house has of the gulf?

The set up was a little different but ended up being great as it provided privacy for all. I would recommend a TV in the main room. You could one put over the fireplace. Having TVs in the bedrooms created a separation. We found that we couldn't all hang out. Would have been nice while having breakfast and cooking dinner. The Olympics were on and the kids would go off an watch by themselves. Otherwise no complaints. The beach gear company VayK Gear was awesome!!! We needed some replacements and they were very responsive. Corn Hole was a great idea. Would do a paddleboard instead of a Kayak.

Thanks so much for your review! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. I did want to point out that although there is not a tv in the formal living room this home does have a media room with a fridge and bar for those occasions where you want to watch tv together. We hope to have you back soon!

Cape and Coast staff

If crowds and traffic are your thing then this is not the place for you. This beach-front house is good for a group of friends or extended family. Three separate sleeping areas offer privacy and the living area is large and comfortable. The community pool is a nice extra.

This is a lovely property and very well maintained. The beach is quiet with wildlife being protected. It is a short drive into town if you want restaurants and nightlife. The mgmt staff were terrific and responsive. Take note of the unusual layout though which would not be good if you have young children. It is fine for older teenagers though. The privacy issue with the windows in the bathrooms was the only concern. Otherwise, we highly recommend this home!

Great place to stay. The beach is terrific. If you're looking for a quite location, this is your place. If you want to go out, there are many places in Port St. Joe and Apalachicola and it's a short drive away. We had several cook outs with fresh seafood purchased just down the road. Just absolutely terrific. There's was a free Dolphin show behind the house almost everyday. As for cons, there's only one, please trim the palm tree by the board walk leading to the beach, it's a bit in the way. Also buy or bring insect repellent, the mosquitos are thick!

Hula Matula was absolutely perfect! We were looking for a quieter beach spot to visit with our teen boys and their friends. This house could not have been more perfect. This was by far the cleanest VRBO that we have ever rented. The location is perfect for a laid back visit to the beach - right between Apalachicola and Port St. Joe, with just a few houses around you. The kitchen was wonderfully appointed with everything you need. We loved the layout of the separation of the bedrooms, it gave everyone some privacy while allowing everyone to be able to come together in the great room and around the dining table. The decks were perfect, and the beach was awesome. The only real complaint we had about the property is the Wifi, it was very spotty and sometimes just non-existent. Made doing some work from there difficult at times. You can indeed see into the master bathroom if the light is on, which is a little awkward if showering at night. But those are just minor issues, and I wouldn't hesitate to rent this place again. I only wish we had booked it for more than a week! We'll definitely be back!

This is a wonderfully designed beach home with too many amenities to list here. My wife and I and my three stepdaughters with son-in-laws and a grand baby all had wonderful private bedrooms. The kitchen/family gathering space brought everyone together in a wonderful way. The private beach views off of both large balconies were stunning. The media room, laundry room, pantry area, utility sink with two types of coffee makers and the outdoor heated beach shower were all a big plus as was the nearby beautiful private community pool. It's in a great location away from the crowds as we wanted. There are several fine restaurants within easy driving distance but you'll probably want to stay and enjoy this masterpiece! I have already recommended it to friends and relatives and we'll probably be back next year too!

With the exception of the sudden development of Tropical Storm Nester that caused us to cut our trip short by a day this family vacation will be difficult to eclipse. The house is amazing (once you get used to the layout), and the convenience to the beach, and immaculate views make it difficult to beat. This was our first trip to Port St Joe-Indian Pass area, but will not be our last.

We had a great vacation!! The house is unbelievable! It was very clean. Loved all the appliances. All the doors (rooms) were nice for our 2 families. We never woke each other up. We would recommend ceiling fans in the rooms and a TV in the living room. The media room TV was great but it was cramped for 8 people. Cape & Coast were awesome. We needed 2 things while we were there and they responded immediately. The only we had was the ocean water which I don't think anyone can control. :-)

Everyone had their own queen+ bed & bathroom (one was a Jack&Jill.) Loved how the bedrooms opened up to an outside breezeway. Beautifully laid out, comfortable furniture and immaculately clean. The location is my favorite in the area, so pristine, private and peaceful, yet positioned equal distance to Port Saint Joe and Apalachicola so I can choose among many of my favorite restaurants for some great seafood! Cape and Coast will always get my business as they are the best at what they do! Great experience in last minute reservations, and all around great customer service. As a matter of fact while there I had a non-emergency maintenance situation that was taken care of immediately, on Christmas Day, with a smile! (David was so helpful and friendly) Rent this house, you won't be disappointed!

Hula Matula is perfect for families. The beach is clean and the house is literally right on the beach, with no obstructions. The house itself is set up perfectly for families that desire a little privacy for the adults, and yet the teens can do their thing without disturbing anyone. The house was new and beautiful and had everything we could want with the exception of ceiling fans... that would have been a great addition as some of the rooms were not as cool as others.
